K&M Yachtbuilders, the shipyard in Makkum on the IJsselmeer, is known for its unusually strong, robust blue-water cruisers. The robust aluminium yachts from the legendary but also exclusive Bestevaer range by designer Gerard Dykstra are particularly popular with sea travellers.

With the new Bestewind 50, the Dutch company now wants to make the exciting Bestevaer concept accessible to a wider range of buyers. The new ship from K&M is not made from aluminium, but from a GRP sandwich composite. What's more, the Bestewind is largely intended to be a standard boat, but will always offer a high degree of customisability, especially when it comes to the interior.

YACHT has sailed the Bestewind 50 in its element, in storms and monster waves on the North Sea.
